Seeing hair fall in the shower or noticing a bit more of the scalp when brushing is often enough to make someone panic completely, whipping out the credit card for some hair restoration product that can cost more than a second hand BMW. As with anything, certain expensive therapies can work well, and others are just nonsense.</p>
<p>Products known to have some hair restoring benefits &#8211; such as Minoxidil &#8211; can be an expensive prospect, requiring multiple applications. They can also pose the threat of some irritating side effects.</p>
<p>There are some home preparations that have been known to create a similar beneficial effect to the hair growth products – without risking irritation, itchy scalps, or further hair loss. Here&#8217;s a few you can try, before rushing to the pharmacist.</p>
<ol>
<li>Drink 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar every day for two weeks with your daily meals.</li>
<li>Mix olive oil, honey and cinnamon powder together, massage it deep into the scalp and leave it for 20 minutes, 4 times per week.</li>
<li>Rinse your hair with apple cider vinegar and sage tea preparations, after normal conditioning treatments.</li>
<li>Drinking a mixture of lettuce and spinach juice (half a liter each day) has been known to promote hair regrowth.</li>
<li>Listerine mouthwash, applied over the problem areas once a week has been said to work wonders.</li>
</ol>
<p><span id="more-74"></span><br />
Here is one fairly elaborate concoction that is well known in certain Latin American countries, and is also said to promote positive hair regrowth. First, you will need a light rum or Vodka (not for drinking!), castor oil, and jalapenos. Head into the kitchen and grab a ceramic cup of fair size, a strainer, a knife, a funnel, a measuring cup, a 3 inch in diameter piece of tin foil, a cutting board, and a clean and empty glass bottle.</p>
<p><strong><em>The Prep:</em></strong></p>
<ol>
<li>Cut the Jalapeno (one large or two small jalapenos) into small pieces</li>
<li>Measure 1/2 cup of rum or Vodka.</li>
<li>Place both the jalapenos and the alcohol in the ceramic cup.</li>
<li>Cover the cup with the tin foil.</li>
<li>Let the preparation sit for 72 hours.</li>
<li>Use the funnel and strainer to add the jalapeno/rum liquid to the glass bottle.</li>
<li>Add 2 or 3 table spoons of castor oil.</li>
</ol>
<p>That&#8217;s the process. I would advise labeling the bottle, in case someone is thirsty and makes the mistake of drinking it all. Once you are finished preparing this concoction, shake it very well and massage it into the scalp, more on the affected or balding areas. Do this every night for 3 or 4 weeks, at which point you should notice hair regrowth.</p>
<p>These are all very solid techniques and remedies that have been tuned and re-tuned over the years, and a great many people swear by the efficiency of each method. It&#8217;s definitely worth a try, especially since none of the above therapies will cause scalp or hair damage.</p>

Freeing your cells and tissues from harmful toxins and restoring your body back to its optimal function simply cannot be argued against. But whether or not a detox diet is to be implemented for the purposes of weight loss is a different story&#8230; sort of.</p>
<p>The truth is, any time you decide to give your body the gift of cleanliness, purity, and renewal, anyone who would try to talk you out of it would be an absolute fool. And here&#8217;s the kicker. I have actually heard people suggest that this is a great way to get healthier and more energized, but shouldn&#8217;t be used as a primary means of weight loss. I couldn&#8217;t disagree more.</p>
<p>Body fat is a defense mechanism. It protects your vital organs, blood vessels, sensitive tissues, cells, and even nerves from acids and pollution within the bloodstream. The fat cells grab onto these dangerous chemicals, essentially trapping them and blocking them from doing damage to the body&#8217;s critical players. In football terms, fat cells are your body&#8217;s offensive linemen!<br />

But if you&#8217;ve got weight to lose, then a detox diet can help the body start getting rid of these toxins, while preventing new toxins from entering. On certain detox diet plans, you can SAFELY lose up to two pounds a day!</p>
<p>Of course, you don&#8217;t want to remain on a detox diet permanently, generally keeping 30 days as your absolute maximum. However, you can implement them several times within a given year. Many nutritionist recommend a 14 day detox once per quarter (4 times per year).</p>
<p>There are many detox diets to choose from, each with varying degrees of intensity and effectiveness. Perhaps the most extreme is a fast, where you will only drink purified water for the entire duration of your cleanse. There are other variations of a fast, such as a green drink cleanse and the Master Cleanse (aka the Lemonade Diet). Another popular and well-respected detox diet is the Raw Food Diet, which can actually end up becoming a permanent lifestyle plan if followed correctly.</p>
<p>Naturally, you will want to consult with your trusted health care practitioner, who will ideally be someone who is well versed in preventive, natural medicine as opposed to being a gung-ho pharmaceutical pusher who&#8217;s only interested in treating symptoms and ignoring causes. A doctor with a good balance of prevention and treatment focus is a great choice. Talk to him or her about your desire to lose weight with a detox diet and see if they have any recommendations that will meet your specific needs.</p>
